Installation & Activation
Welcome to RS WP Book Showcase! Getting started is easy. Whether you are using the Free version or the Pro version, this guide will walk you through the installation process in minutes.
๐ System Requirements
Before installing, please ensure your website meets the following requirements for the best experience:
- WordPress Version: 5.8 or higher
- PHP Version: 7.4 or higher
- WooCommerce: Required only if you plan to use the “WooCommerce Sync” feature.
1. Installing the Free Version
The free version of RS WP Book Showcase is available directly from the WordPress plugin repository.
- Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
- In the search bar (top-right), type:
RS WP Book Showcase. - Look for the plugin authored by RS WP Themes.
- Click the Install Now button.
- Once installed, click Activate.
Note: After activation, you will see a new menu item named “Book Showcase” in your dashboard sidebar.
2. Installing the PRO Version
RS WP Book Showcase Pro is a premium extension that adds advanced features like Amazon Import, Frontend Submissions, and more.
Important: You must have the Free version installed and activated before installing the Pro version. The Pro version acts as an add-on.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Purchase & Download: After purchasing the plugin from our website, download the
rs-wp-book-showcase-pro.zipfile to your computer. - Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
- Click on the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.
- Click Choose File, select the
.zipfile you downloaded, and click Install Now. - Once installed, click Activate Plugin.
3. Activating Your License Key (Pro Only)
To receive automatic updates and support, you need to activate your license key.
- Navigate to Book Showcase > Settings.
- Click on the License tab.
- Enter the License Key you received in your purchase email.
- Click Activate License.
โ Success! You typically see a status message saying “Active”. You are now ready to build your book library!
4. Troubleshooting
Common Issue: “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.” This error means your server’s upload limit is too low. To fix this:
- Contact your hosting provider to increase the limit.
- Or, upload the unzipped plugin folder directly to
/wp-content/plugins/via FTP.
